Craft Ministry at St John's UCC

New Craft Group has formed at St John’s with a two fold Goal. First is to provide hand made items to those in need as a means of sharing the love of Christ to our fellow man. The second Goal is to teach crafts to those in the Community who want to learn.

The Craft Club is an informal group of people who will meet once a month (Same Sunday’s as Confirmation classes). Anyone can be a member of the “Club” and you don’t have to attend meetings to participate by donating crafts or materials. The Craft Club is not a formal committee – but strives to support and enhance the work of the Standing Committee’s of the Church.

Currently for the Fall / Winter of 2009 we are learning to crochet. Our first project is making simple toboggans for the homeless. Donated handmade crochet or knitted toboggans or hats are being sought. Anyone who knows how to knit or crochet is encouraged to donate their time and love in completing items for this project. If anyone needs materials we will work to try to supply your needs.

In the future we hope to have talented people from the St John’s Community to share with us their craft. Other crafts that have been discussed as possible learning projects are Knitting, quilting and flower arranging. We plan to make projects for the Church’s annual Bazaare as well as projects that will bring comfort to the homeless, sick, elderly or needy. Our most important goal is to share the love of God with others so that we may all be spiritually uplifted.
