Outreach at St. John's

Prayer Team

For those unable to leave home, there are prayer concerns that need to be lifted up and cards to be written. Members of St John's Prayer Team pray for those in need of God's healing and loving presence.

Transients and Visitors Assistance

St. John's has provided assistance for those with needs who come to our doors.  In 2006 St. John's helped found the interfaith ministry ACTS (Area Congregations Together in Service).  ACTS will provide financial and counseling assistance to persons and families in danger of losing their housing.  Intake interviews and case management review will ensure that the appropriate type of assistance is provided.  Two members of St. John's serve on the Advisory Board.  Volunteers are needed to provide family counseling.

Koinonia/Diaconia

We provide counseling and financial support for members of our congregation who find themselves in need.

 Home Care Ministry

We take flowers, meals and other needed items to our "residents-in-care" or members who are at home recovering from illness, accident or loss of a family member.

"Ministry of Muffins"

We provide hospitality in the form of snacks and beverages after every church service, giving a warm welcome to visitors and enhancing the sense of community and fellowship at St. John's.

Church Yard Work and Building Maintenance Ministry

We assist in various work projects both inside and outside the church, including painting, removal of unwanted furniture, clean-up activities and yard work.

Church School Offering

Our church school classes have supported mission projects such as Heifer Project and Habitat for Humanity.

Other Service Opportunities

There are many other opportunities to serve at St. John's including becoming a member of the usher team, teaching in our Christian Education programs and joining a committee.
